Where things stood.
Retro-Z is a fashion brand with a distinct aesthetic — retro, bold, and unapologetic about it.
Off-the-shelf mobile wrappers for their Shopify-powered store made the app feel like a generic catalog. The brand deserved better, and so did their repeat customers.
What we were asked to solve.
Build a mobile experience that felt like the brand — typography, motion, pacing — while keeping commerce plumbing (inventory, checkout, shipping) backed by their existing platform.
The app had to stand on its own next to the website, with flows the storefront couldn't give them: bookmarks, drops, and push alerts tied to size availability.
How we built it.
We designed a mobile-native shopping language — typography-led product cards, full-bleed product photography, and micro-interactions that echo the brand's editorial tone.
The app talks to the Shopify Storefront API for inventory and checkout, and to a thin custom service for features Shopify doesn't cover — drop schedules, push campaigns, and size-based re-stock alerts.

Typography-led cards that let the collection breathe and give photography the space it deserves.
Drop countdowns + alerts
Built-in countdowns for drops, push when they go live, and a "notify me" flow for sold-out sizes.
Wishlists + bookmarks
Long-term wishlists and per-collection bookmarks for repeat customers.
Native checkout
Checkout flows inside the app via Shopify Storefront, keeping payments inside the existing PCI scope.
